Often our students are uninspired in their current school environment because the school just can’t meet their needs.  It is not the fault of the teachers or the administrators – it’s budget cuts, discipline problems, poor English skills, low literacy rates…to name a few.  With Let’s Paint! we help our students to “love to learn” again.  We often hear from the participants that Let’s Paint! is the best after school program they’ve ever experienced.

Why do they love it?  Well, most enjoy the idea that they receive a small stipend to participate.  However, after the first few weeks, we hear that the students love that we stop what we’re doing to explain something, if they missed it the first time.  They are doing meaningful work, not just “busy work” to pass the time. Our students feel important and cared for.  In addition, the students just love the sense of accomplishment they receive as they paint.  In a world filled with immediate gratification, school often doesn’t feel rewarding or valuable.  Transforming a space with paint helps them learn that effort pays off.  They don’t even realize all the different skills they are learning while in the program, because they are having so much fun!

Please consider being part of this success story for Hartford area kids.
